We are resuming our yearly tradition of the WildsKOSfees/Venison Festival and it will be our 22nd Festival. This is a highlight of our yearly calender. Gerhard & Marie Lombard and Marie-Louise Nel as owners of De Oude Kraal are proud to present this true Free State festival. This festival gives us the opportunity to go from strength to strength where we offer a unique experience with quality products and services.

The main aim of the festival is to emphasize the wide variety of Venison dishes available to us and to showcase the gourmet style of venison that can be created in a new style. Using excellent quality venison locally sourced Chef/owner Marie Lombard, Marie-Louise and their dedicated team is inspired to deliver quality in each dish.
The process begins with female animals for best quality meats, aged in the correct manner and divided into the different cuts of meat.
Marie believes that venison is our best source of winter dishes, and that the true potensial of venison in South Africa does not get realized as it could.
Taste gourmet dishes delivering on dimension of flavour, texture and complexity with a wide variety and can be compared to the art of wine making.
Springbuck with its deeply developed aroma and soft delicate taste, Gemsbuck with firm, but light-coloured meat and more subtle taste.
Blesbuck meat can be compared to a Shiraz’s variety of aroma, dark ruby colour of the meat, but gentle on the palet.
Rhebuck is in a class of their own, best harmonious balance of aromas with, with no one overwhelming the other, creating a wonderful taste combination experience.
Come and enjoy a lifechanging experience, where you will see venison with new eyes and say farewell forever to the old fashioned style of stringy, tough venison.

We will also have a few beef, mutton, pork and chicken dishes available.
Hand in hand with the venison is the special experience created by De Oude Kraal for all visitors to taste the wines from 20 wine estates and to be able to buy them at very competitive prices. Visitors also get to chat with a person directly from each wine farm.
Each wine stall is attended by a representative direct from the wine estate that can tell you more about each wine tasted. There are 5-6 wines per stall. The venison and wine stalls are set up to compliment each other. Each entrance ticket includes a wine tasting glass at the entrance.
There are prizes to be won for the shooting and Golf chip competition.
